My Story

I grew up in Charlotte surrounded by strong community leadership and mentorship. From local youth events to citywide showcases, I saw firsthand how powerful it is when people feel seen and represented. That environment shaped how I view storytelling.

My introduction to photography began with a curiosity about composition and lighting  learning how perspective can completely change the way a moment is understood. What started as experimentation quickly turned into purpose.

A defining moment came during a public exhibition of my work. I watched a woman pause in front of one of my photographs, visibly moved by the image. As she explained how deeply it resonated with her and chose to purchase it for her home, I realized that photography is more than visual art. It is emotional connection. It is preservation. It is influence.

That experience shifted my mindset. I no longer saw photography as just capturing moments — I saw it as carrying responsibility.

Experience & Growth

Beyond campus life, I serve as a visual historian with The Males Place, Inc., documenting community initiatives, youth leadership programs, and international service missions. My work has taken me to Ghana, West Africa, and Belize, where I documented cultural engagement, community development efforts, and cross-cultural collaboration.

International fieldwork strengthened my ability to:

  • Communicate across cultural differences

  • Work effectively in fast-paced, unfamiliar environments

  • Capture authentic moments respectfully and ethically

  • Produce visual content for archival and nonprofit marketing use

My photography has also been featured in exhibitions at University of North Carolina at Charlotte and youth arts showcases throughout Charlotte. Each opportunity has reinforced my commitment to storytelling that is thoughtful, accurate, and impactful.
